Ada Barendt, 91 of Fargo formerly of Devils Lake, ND died Thursday morning, August 7, 2008 at Bethany Homes, Fargo, ND.
Mass of Christian Burial for Ada will be held on Monday, August 11, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake. Fr. Dale Kinzler will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation on Monday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Ada will be Michael Tuchscherer, Marvin Tuchscherer, Greg Tuchscherer, James Tuchscherer, Wade Tuchscherer and Jim Sheeley
Music will be provided by Paul Traynor and JoDee Lagein.
Gift Bearers will be Renee Lord and Karen Sheeley
Ada was born on October 15, 1916 at Towner, ND the daughter of Alexander and Magdalena (Ziegler) Tuchscherer. She grew up and was educated in rural Devils Lake.
Ada was united in marriage to Philip J. Barendt on December 7, 1940. They established their home on the Barendt family farm in the Webster area. In 1946 they moved to their farm north of Devils Lake where they lived, farmed and raised their son, Leon. Due to Philip’s ill health, they moved into Devils Lake in 1969 where they lived through the years. Philip died on July 7, 1993. Ada continued to make Devils Lake her home until the fall of 2005 when she moved to Fargo to be closer to family. Ada worked as a sales clerk in Manns Department Store for thirteen years.
That sparkle in her eyes and that kind and loving smile will be truly missed by all those who so dearly loved her.
Ada is survived by her loving family which includes her brother, George Tuchscherer and his wife, Jackie of West Fargo, ND and sister, Margaret Groth of Berlin, Wisconsin. Granddaughter, Andrea Barendt
Sister-In-Law: Ann Tuchscherer of Fargo.
Several nieces, nephews and their families also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Philip; son, Leon; brothers, Joseph, Frank and Conrad Tuchscherer.
