Ernest G. Svercl, 96 of Devils Lake, formerly of Lawton, ND died on Wednesday, June 8, 2005 at his home in Devils Lake.
Mass of Christian Burial for Ernest will be on Monday, June 13, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake. Fr. Joseph Christensen will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Monday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass.
Serving as Pallbearers will be: Joe Reiger, Curtis Reiger, Cory Lucking, Gordon Svercl, Tiffany Black and Johnny Berdal.
Music will be cared for by Patty Cote.

Ernest George Svercl was born on April 30, 1909 in Walsh County, Grafton, ND the son of Joseph and Annie (Pic) Svercl. He attended the Sauter School, rural Brocket, ND. Ernest was united in marriage to Alice Kovarik on October 4, 1939 in Lankin, ND. They established their home in a the farm at rural Lawton where they farmed for fourteen years. They moved to Devils Lake and Ernest worked for the Odd Fellows Home for 22 years, retiring in 1979. Ernest was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Devils Lake Eagles for many years.
Ernest is survived by his wife of 65 years, Alice
