Jacqueline Marie, the daughter of Stanley J. and Marie E. (Mattern) Amon was born on February 9, 1948 at Minot, ND. She grew up and was educated in Rugby, graduating from Rugby High School in the class of 1966. She graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse from Wahpeton State School of Science in 1970 and later continued her education at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, graduating with a degree in psychology and sociology in 1986.
Jacque was united in marriage to Joe Gross on June 4, 1968 at Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby. They established their home in Fargo, but Joe’s job of training management and staff of newly established K-Mart’s throughout the country would mean that the Gross family lived many places in the United States. In 1992 they moved to Cando, ND where Jacque worked at the Towner County Medical Center, Resthaven Nursing Home and also for the Home Health Program. In 1999, the family moved to Devils Lake and Jacque continued in nursing at the Heartland Care Center. Jacque felt a calling to help people with any illness or need but especially felt a need to help those with the illnesses that couldn’t be diagnosed with a simple test, those that needed her expertise in psychology.
Jacque was a devoted wife, mother and daughter and treasured the time she was able to spend with family and friends. In the last years, she enjoyed doing a variety of crafts and decorating projects. We will hold the memory of Jacque forever in our hearts.
