Ena M. Loken, 84 of Devils Lake formerly of Brinsmade, ND died on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at the Good Samaritan Center, Devils Lake.
Funeral Services for Ena will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Devils Lake with Rev. Jamie Desai officiating. The Graveside Service will be held at the Brinsmade Cemetery, Brinsmade, ND on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Ena will be Sean Copeland, Julie Copeland, Michele Kramlich, Glenn Kramlich, Jeromy Loken, Tracy Loken, Jennette Loken-Sundberg, Sean Sundberg, Spring Loken, Nita Sasser, Paul Sasser, Teresa Kiser and David Kiser.
Music will be provided by Russell and Lynda Pearson.
Ena Marie Piper was born on May 17, 1923 at Ladysmith, Wisconsin the daughter of Hiram and Hulda (Jacobson) Piper. At a very young age, she moved with her family to the Maddock area. She attended elementary school at Eldon Township #2 Country School and graduated from the Benson County Agricultural School in Maddock. She then worked as a housekeeper in Devils Lake for two years. Ena met and on July 11, 1942, married the love of her life, Roy A. Loken at Esmond, ND. They established their home on the farm at Brinsmade where they lived, worked and raised their family through the years. In November of 1975, they retired and moved to Leeds, ND and in 1983 moved into Devils Lake. While living in Devils Lake, Ena worked at the Super 8 Motel for 6 years. She truly enjoyed the work and meeting new people each day. Roy died on January 20, 2006. Ena continued to make her home in Devils Lake.
Ena was always very active in the church, the Ladies Aide, teaching Sunday School at the Brinsmade Lutheran Church, the Brinsmade ELC, then as a member of the Leeds Lutheran Church she was very active in the Leeds Lutheran Christian Women organization. After moving to Devils Lake, they were members of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
Ena above all was a woman of great faith and devotion. She dedicated herself to caring for her husband and family, a task that gave her great joy and pride. She shared that love and pride of family to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ena was an excellent cook and baker and there were always goodies on the table for family and friends. She enjoyed playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, watching the TV shopping channel, cooking channel and both she and Roy enjoyed watching CUBS baseball. She enjoyed watching other sports on TV too.

Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy; brothers and sister, George Piper and Henry and twins Leroy and Lois in infancy.
