Joseph E. “Poopis” Peltier Jr., 56 of Devils Lake and Fort Totten, ND died on Wednesday, January 9, 2007 at Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake in the loving care of his dear family and Hospice. Mass of Christian Burial for Joe will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Seven Dolors Catholic Church, Fort Totten. Fr. Charles Leute, O.P. and Fr. Paul Ruge will concelebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Jerome’s Catholic Cemetery, Crow Hill, ND. A Wake will be held at the Fort Totten Recreation Center, Fort Totten on Monday beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 8:00 p.m. The Procession to the Crow Hill Recreation Center will leave the Wal-Mart Parking Lot on Monday at 4:00 p.m. Serving as Casket Bearers for Joe will be Timothy McKay, Owen McKay, Fred Longie, Lonnie Charboneau, Anthony Merlin Charboneau, Fred Longie and Delbert Herald. Honorary Bearers are all of Joe’s Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces and Great Nephews, Fr. Paul Ruge and Jack Rader. Joseph Edward Peltier Jr. was born on September 27, 1951 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake, the son of Joseph E. Peltier Sr. and Hattie Grace (Charboneau) Peltier. He attended elementary school in Fort Totten and high school in Oberon, ND. He then worked on construction projects in the area for several years and also worked at the Spirit Lake Casino. He lived in Arizona for a time, but lived most of his life in the Fort Totten/Devils Lake area. Joe was united in marriage to Linda Ann Lincoln on February 13, 1975 at Minnewaukan. Linda died in 2002. Joe loved his family and was very proud of all of them. He loved spending time with them and visiting with his many friends. When he had time to himself, Joe enjoyed listening to music. Joe had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother Mary and prayed the rosary daily. We shall hold the many memories of dear Joe in our hearts forever. He is survived by his daughters: Michelle Peltier of Arizona Jolene Peltier, Devils Lake Angela Rodriquez Davila-Peltier of Rapid City, SD. Sonya Peltier, Arizona Heidi Peltier also of Rapid City Grandchildren: Antonio Coronado, Shania Peltier, Julio Peltier, Zachary Peltier, Delmar Peltier, Joel Castro, Jabya Castro, Darshan Castro, Sierra Perez and Andres Perez. Brother: Patrick Peltier, Devils Lake Sisters: Camilla Smith-Peltier, Lila Venette-Peltier and Brenda Peltier all of Devils Lake Mary Ellen Charboneau of Grand Forks, ND Special Aunt: Violet Fournier Special Friends: Fred Longie and Jack Rader Many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and their families also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Linda; son, Joel Peltier; sisters, Carol Charboneau Peltier and Beverly Peltier; niece, April Herald and several other nieces and nephews.
