Beatrice “Beatty” Kraft Hoistad, 66, of Devils Lake, died early Friday, April 4, 2008, surrounded by her family, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.
The funeral service for Beatty will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Devils Lake with Fr. Robert Pecotte celebrating the Mass. Serving as Pallbearers for Beatty will be Charles Bringgold, John Bringgold, Joey Kraft, Keith Vollmer, Travis Vollmer, and Daniel Erickstad. Honorary Bearers will be William Kraft, James Kraft, Patrick Kraft, Joseph Hoistad, Albert Hoistad, Jr., and the Staffs of Mercy Hospital and the Good Samaritan Center.
Music will be provided by Maureen Bertsch, soloist and Lynda Pearson, organist
Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel in Devils Lake on Wednesday, April 9, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary and scripture service at 7:00 p.m. Gravside Services will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Karlsruhe, North Dakota on Thursday, April 10, 2008 at 3:30 p.m.
Beatrice “Beatty” Kraft was born on November 14, 1941, near Karlsruhe, North Dakota, to parents Ben and Katherine (Schwan) Kraft. She attended Karlsruhe High School, graduating in 1959. Beatty worked at St. Joe’s Hospital in Minot, and received her nursing degree from the Lake Region Practical Nursing Program in Devils Lake.
Beatty and Garland Hoistad were united in marriage on June 21, 1969, at Little Flower Catholic Church in Minot. They made their home in DeGroat Township, rural Churchs Ferry, and attended Chain Lake Lutheran Church as well as Trinity Bergen Lutheran Church in Starkweather. Their children, Heidi, Kristi, and Tyler, attended Starkweather High School. Beatty worked at Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake for over 30 years. In recent years, she also worked at the Good Samaritan Center. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Beatty will always be remembered for her kindness and courage, her joyful and independent spirit. She loved gardening, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a compassionate nurse, always comforting those in need with her gentle words and quiet dignity.
Beatty is survived by her husband, Garland; her daughter, Heidi; her daughter, Kristi, and granddaughters, Laticia and Lindsey; her son and daughter-in-law, Tyler and Stephanie; her sister, Marcella Milligan; her brothers, William, James, and Patrick Kraft; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Beatty was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Katherine Kraft; her sisters, Alice Bringgold and Helen Weekley; and her brothers, Leo, Pius, Albert, Ben, and Marvin Kraft.
