Mildred J. “Millie” Stotts, 81 of Devils Lake, formerly of Lisbon, ND died on Monday, May 12, 2008 at the Good Samaritan Center, Devils Lake.
Funeral Services for Millie will be Friday, May 16, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Devils Lake with Rev. Marvin Winstryg officiating.
Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation on Friday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
Graveside Services for Millie will be held on Saturday, May 17th at 11:00 a.m. at the Dick Cemetery in Elliot, ND.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Millie will be her grandson, Matthew Lyon and family friends, Jeff Riggin, Jon Myro, Jeff Stenseth, Myron Halverson and Richard Halldorson.
Mildred J. (Stroh) Stotts was born January 17, 1927 in Lisbon, ND, the daughter of George and Pearl (Sather) Stroh. She was raised and educated in Elliot, ND and graduated from Elliot High School in 1944. She then attended Valley City State Teacher’s College and taught in rural schools in the Elliot and Cleveland communities for several years.
Millie was united in marriage to Delno Weaver of Lisbon and they had 2 daughters, Connie and Karen. They moved to Devils Lake from Lisbon to allow Karen to attend the North Dakota School for the Deaf. Millie was later united in marriage to Vernald Stotts and they have two sons, Jon and Jeff.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Devils Lake. Millie taught Sunday School and was in charge of the Nursery for several years. Mildred was a manager of Fashion City, worked for Montgomery Ward, Minnie H School and the School for the Deaf. For a period of 6 years, Millie had a Day Care in her home while she cared for her daughter, Karen, now deaf and blind.
Millie loved to be outside working with her plants and breathing the fresh air. She especially loved the smell of Lilacs in the spring of the year and her African Violet plants.
In 1990, she retired from Day Care for health reasons and in 1996 she sold her home and moved into the Odd Fellow Retirement Village.
Millie is survived by her four children: Connie Tollefson, Karen Weaver, Jon Stotts and Jeff Stotts and his wife, Melissa all of Devils Lake.
Five Grandchildren: Kristie Tollefson, Matthew Lyon, Quincy Stotts and Ian Stotts of Devils Lake and Alexis Koterwas of Houston, Texas.
Sisters: Beverly Endersbe and Janice Engebretson both of Fargo and brother, Ken Stroh of Lisbon.
Several nieces, nephews and their families also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother and sister and her brother, Norman Stroh.
