Donald H. Harrison, 68 of Devils Lake, ND formerly of Warroad, Minnesota died on Thursday, April 17, 2008 at his home.
Services for Don will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel, Devils Lake. Military Honors will be accorded by the Neathery-Simensen Post #756, Devils Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home on Monday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
Donald Hal Harrison was born April 7th, 1940 in Falun Township in Northern Minnesota, the son of Hal and Ellen (Olson) Harrison. Don was raised in the Warroad, MN area and graduated from Warroad High School in 1958. He enlisted in the Army shortly after graduation. Don served in Vietnam as a platoon sergeant in the 9th Infantry Division, as well as various other installations both in the United States and overseas. He received several medals of valor during his service in Vietnam. Don married Shirley Reinhart on July 28, 1962 and had three children, Tereasa, Donald Bart, and Debra. Don and his family moved to Devils Lake, ND in 1971 where he accepted a position as the region’s Army recruiter. After 16 years of service, Don left active duty in 1974, but continued his military service in the National Guard until 1982. He managed Ed’s Off Sale, worked at Sioux Manufacturing, and was employed at Walmart until he retired in 2005.
Don is survived by his wife Shirley, his brother Ralland (Lois) Harrison, his children, Tereasa (David) Brostrom, Donald B. Harrison, Debra (Jeff) Plemel, nine grandchildren and his mother-in-law, Norma Reinhart.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Hal & Ellen Harrison.
