Freddie Oscar Schempp was born on August 15, 1956 at Breese, Illinois, the son of Fred Charles and Helen Mary (Weil) Schempp. On August 15th, 1970, Freddie’s 14th birthday, the family moved to St. Michael, ND. Freddie graduated from Warwick High School in the class of 1974. He attended Lake Region Junior College and received his degree in Auto Mechanics. He entered the North Dakota National Guard, receiving his training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He was at one-time married to Stacey Dionne and they had two daughters, Jennifer and Jamie. He moved to Gillette, Wyoming and worked on the oil rigs. There he met and married Linda Channel and they had a daughter, Kimberly Ann. They moved to St. Michael and he worked as a mechanic at Goodyear Tire in Devils Lake. They then moved to Ottawa, Kansas and Freddie owned and operated along with his brother-in-law, FredRicks Construction. In September of 2000, the family moved to Chaffee, ND and Freddie worked in Fargo for Blahna Sales Inc. until illness forced him to retire.
Freddie had a great passion for motorcycles and rode a Harley Davidson 1983 XLS Sportster. He was a charter member and past president of the Spirit Lake Riders.
