John R. Walski, 44, of Devils Lake, ND died on Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 2, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake. Fr. Joseph Christensen will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel, Devils Lake on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 4:30 p.m. Visitation on Monday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Byron Lannoye, Grant Lannoye, Dean Fandrich, Nick Streifel, Barry Rongen and Lee Gessner.
Honorary Pallbearers will be All of John’s Family and Friends.
Reading the Scriptures will be Diane Peyerl

John Robert Walski was born on January 1, 1961 at St. Michael’s Hospital, Grand Forks, the son of Clarence and Johanna (Paschke) Walski. He was educated at Oslo Public School, graduating in the class of 1979. He attended AVTI (Area Vocational Technical Institute) at East Grand Forks, Minnesota graduating as a certified welder. In 1981, John moved to Devils Lake and began working for Summer’s Manufacturing in Maddock and later Devils Lake until 2003. John then began working for Byron and Terri Lannoye and so loved to be farming. John was united in marriage to Laurie L. Streifel on October 20, 1984 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake where they established their home and raised their family.
John enjoyed spending time with family and friends and had a great sense of humor. He loved gardening and sharing the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, cooking and invented many recipes. He was known by many for his homemade sausage and homemade horse radish. John was a hard worker, kind hearted and a loving person who touched many lives. John loved polka music and always had a CD to play in his pickup and even listened to polka music on his computer and TV. His loving smile and sparkling eyes will be so very missed by his family and friends.
