Donald Onerheim was born on February 3, 1933 on the family farm at Brinsmade, ND, the son of Selmer and Bertha (Hanson) Onerheim. Don was educated in Brinsmade and graduated from Leeds High School in the class of 1951 then worked road construction for Benson County. Don was united in marriage to Janice Guffey on August 27, 1953 at Brinsmade. He entered the United States Army and served his country during the Korean Conflict, stationed in France. After his honorable discharge, he returned to North Dakota and began working at McHugh’s in Devils Lake. He also worked as a route salesman for Eddy’s Bakery and also worked in retail sales and installed furnaces for Montgomery Wards. Eventually, Don and Janice bought the Montgomery Wards Catalog Division and operated that business for many years. In 1973, Don and Janice became the owners and operators of the “ARCADE” for over 25 years.
Don was a member of the Neathery-Simensen Post #756 and Peace Lutheran Church.
Don made many friends over the years as they passed through the doors of his stores and talked about the events of the day. But Don’s greatest pride and joy were his family and spending time hunting with his son and grandsons and he will be so dearly missed.
