Thelma M. Severtson, 87 of Lakota, ND formerly of Crary, ND died on Friday, March 2, 2007 at the Lakota Good Samaritan Center. Funeral Services for Thelma will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake. Rev. Harold Ovre will officiate and burial will be in the Crary Cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation on Thursday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Serving as Casket Bearers for Thelma will be Alphonsus Wagner, Gerald Dimmler, Richard Mahoney, Terry Thomson, Donald Calderwood and Jim Dimmler. Honorary Bearers are the caring staff of the Lakota Good Samaritan Center. Music will be provided by Jamie Travers, soloist and JoDee Lagein, organist. Thelma Margaret was born on July 30, 1919 at Crary, ND the daughter of Bernt and Hilma (Westerberg) Severtson. She was reared and educated there, graduating from Crary High School in May of 1938. Following graduation, she went to Zahl, ND where she was employed at the Post Office and the Co-op Store for several years. She then became the owner and operator of the Café at Zahl for 10 years. She returned to the Crary area and made her home with her sister, Beatrice and family for several years. Thelma worked for the Martin and Dimmler families, and later was employed at Mercy Hospital working in the cafeteria from September of 1966 until retiring in November of 1990. On March 2, 1998, Thelma moved to the Lakota Good Samaritan Home where she made her home for the past 9 years. Thelma was a charter member of the Crary Lutheran Church, and after it closed became a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and WELCA. Thelma always considered her nieces and nephews as her own and felt great pride and joy as their aunt. Thelma is survived by her sister, Beatrice Aronson of Devils Lake. Nieces: Beverly Sager, Crary Carol Johnson and her husband, Jerry, Devils Lake Judy Aronson, Devils Lake Nephews: Myrle Aronson and his wife, Darlene, Sarles, ND Ronald and his wife, Debbie of Doyon, ND Sister-In-Law: Betty Severtson of Devils Lake Many grand nieces and grand nephews also survive. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kenneth Severtson; nephews, Darryl Severtson, Arnold Aronson and Gene Sager.
