Anna M. Hanson, 90, of Devils Lake formerly of Warwick, ND died Thursday, December 13, 2007 at Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake.
Funeral services for Anna will be Monday, December 17, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, Devils Lake. Rev. Rafe Allison will officiate and burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., with the family present from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Visitation on Monday will be at the church one hour prior to the service.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Anna will be her grandsons, Jason Hanson, Norman Hanson, Kenneth C. Hanson and Ross Hanson and her granddaughters’ spouses, Paul McCarthy, Michael Lee, Michael Bingham and Jason Hicks.
Music will be Congregational Hymns with Brenda Swenseth, pianist.
Anna Margaret Anderson, the daughter of C. L. and Margaret (Svendson) Anderson was born, September 16, 1917 on the farm, homesteaded by her parents southwest of Warwick, ND. She attended grade school in Riverside School No. 3 and high school at the Maddock Agricultural School, graduating in the class of 1936. After graduation, she worked at the homes of many neighbors during harvest time. She also worked for Mrs. Moen for a few years. She then worked at the Scott Store in Devils Lake until she was united in marriage to Hilmer Hanson on January 25, 1942 at the Warwick Lutheran Church. In 1943, they moved to Morris Township where they lived, farmed and raised their two sons, Collin and Kenneth through the years. Hilmer passed away on July 20, 1973.
Anna continued to live on the farm until 1988 when she moved to Devils Lake. She worked at the Lake Region Lutheran Home for 21 years and also served on the Lake Region Lutheran Home board of directors for 9 years.
Anna has been an active member of Peace Lutheran Church and the WELCA for over 20 years. She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge, Sons of Norway and the VFW Auxiliary.
Anna enjoyed traveling and traveled overseas and to many states. She enjoyed quilting and gardening. She had quite a green thumb when it came to flowers and caring for plants at home and at the church. She was famous for her homemade bread and doughnuts. Anna especially enjoyed fishing with her sons and grandchildren.
Anna trusted in God’s love and mercy throughout her life and passed that legacy of love onto her children and grandchildren. Anna will be forever in our hearts and memories.

Eight Grandchildren: Jason (Leah) Hanson, Norman Hanson, Carleen (Paul) McCarthy and LeNae (Michael) Lee; Kenneth C. (Nancy) Hanson, Marti (Michael) Bingham, Janna (Jason) Hicks and Ross (Amy) Hanson.
Nineteen Great Grandchildren
Sister: Marie Beckstrand and her husband, Melvin of Warwick
Many nieces, nephews and their families also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hilmer; brothers and sisters, Arvid Anderson, Edgar Anderson, Leonard Anderson, Reuben Anderson, Norman Anderson, Jesse Anderson, Linda Hanson, Carl Anderson and Edith Walters.
