Wilfred J. Jackson, 69 of St. Michael, ND died on Sunday, April 8, 2007 at his home with his family at his side. Mass of Christian Burial for Wilfred will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, St. Michael, ND on Friday, April 13, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. Fr. Paul Ruge will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery. A Wake will be held at St. Michael’s Recreation Center on Thursday beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary Service at 8:00 p.m. led by Fr. Charles Leute, O.P. The Procession to St. Michael’s Recreation Center will leave the Wal-Mart Parking Lot at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Casket Bearers for Wilfred will be Derrick Jackson, Victor Jackson Jr., Mathias Jackson, Vernell Jackson, Fabian Lohnes, Kyle Ironhawk, Claude Black Jr. and Kelsey Feather. Honorary Bearers will be All the Maintenance Workers of the Spirit Lake Tribe and Francis Owlboy, Clifford Cavanaugh, Art Thompson, Joe Lawrence Sr., Mike Greywater Sr., Sam Merrick, Fred Longie and Duane Jackson. Music will be by the Rhythm Riders Singers Wilfred Joseph Jackson was born at Fort Totten, ND on January 30, 1938, the son of John and Louisa (Walking Bull) Jackson. Wilfred was reared, educated and lived and worked his entire life on the Spirit Lake Nation. He married Doris Bear in 1958 in Minnewaukan. He worked for a time on a turkey farm in the St. Michael area, he was employed by Sioux Manufacturing, was a driver for the Indian Health Service Clinic and most recently worked in the maintenance department at the Tribal Building. He was united in marriage to Delima Cavanaugh in 1986 and they made their home on a ranch at rural St. Michael. Delima died on September 3, 2005. Wilfred loved being at his farm home where he raised horses and cattle. He enjoyed going to Bingo and visiting with his many friends and always looked forward to traveling to see horse racing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his many friends and family. Wilfred will be forever missed and forever in our hearts. Wilfred is survived by his son, Victor (Bernadine) Jackson Daughters: Brenda (Roger) Jackson, Jeanetta Jackson, Patricia (David) Robertson and Sandy (Claude Sr.) Jackson all of St. Michael Adopted Son: Kelsey Feather of Fort Totten The children’s mother, Doris Longie Twenty Two Grandchildren: Derrick Jackson, Victor Jackson, Jr., Brandon Jackson, Fabian Lohnes, Wayne Littleghost, Mathias Jackson, Anthony Ironhawk, Shandy Brown, Vernell Jackson, Kyle Ironhawk, Claude Black Jr., Heather Jackson, Dawn Jackson, Raven Whitetail, Lacey Jackson, Bobbie Littleghost, Bobbiette Littleghost, Trenda Littleghost, Challsey Ironhawk, Merranda Ironhawk, Ivory Black and Iris Black. Twelve Great Grandchildren: Skyler Anderson, Sarah Anderson, Kalista Jackson, Gunner Anderson, Kaylean Lohnes, Kasa Lohnes, Jaztin Hunt, Dwight Hunt, Jasiah Jackson, Mark Fassett Jr., Jayla Alberts and Noah Black. Special Nurses: Carmen Tronson and Bernadine Whiteshield He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Delima Jackson; brother, Sylvester Jackson; great grandchildren, Jamison Jackson, Matisha Fassett and Vernell Jackson Jr.; grandparents, Philip and Tanuyaskawin Jackson and Tatankaman and Inapewin Walking Bull.
