Ennis G. Dahl, 72 of Devils Lake formerly of Hampden, ND died early Tuesday morning, February 26, 2008 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake. Funeral services for Ennis will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake with Rev. Harold Ovre officiating. Burial will be in the Storlie Cemetery, rural Hampden, ND in the spring. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Saturday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Serving as Casket Bearers for Ennis will be his nephews, Dean Toso, Daryn Toso, Brian Toso, Jay Berg, Russell Auka, Mikkal Auka, Daniel Auka, Larry Christianson, Lonnie Christianson, Lyle Christianson, Doug Christianson, Randy Dahl and Richard Dahl. Music will be provided Tom Wade, soloist and Lynda Pearson, organist Ennis Gene Dahl was born April 3, 1935 at McVille, ND, the son of Alfred and Edith (Nelson) Dahl. Ennis lived with his family on a farm in the Hampden area. He first attended a Storlie country school where he graduated from the eighth grade. He then attended high school in Hampden, graduating in 1953. In the fall of 1953, he went to work for Western Electric in Fargo. Ennis spent two years serving his country in the United States Army, going to Germany for 18 months and then received and honorable discharge in November of 1958. Ennis returned to his job with Western Electric installing equipment in telephone offices around the area for a total of 17 years. Ennis was united in marriage to Marion Watne on November 28, 1959 at the Alsen Lutheran Church. They established their home in Rapid City, South Dakota until February of 1960 when he transferred back to the Fargo office but they made their home in Moorhead, Minnesota. In 1970, they moved to Woodridge, Illinois and Ennis worked for the Hawthorne Plant at Cicero, Illinois until they closed. Now Ennis would begin many years of service to AT&T at Columbus, Ohio, making this his home for 16 years, retiring with 35 years of service from AT&T in October of 1988. In 1992, Ennis and Marion moved to Devils Lake and have made this their home through the years. Ennis was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and the American Legion in Williston. Ennis had several pastimes including gardening and doing a variety of craft projects. Ennis was a jack-of-all-trades and could fix anything. Our love for Ennis is unending and he will be greatly missed by all those whose lives he touched. Ennis is survived by his wife, Marion Son: Darrell at home in Devils Lake Daughters: Loretta Howard of Parker, Colorado Eileen Dodd and her husband, Michael of Beech Grove, Indiana Christine Sciandra of Galloway, Ohio Grandchildren: Jennifer Utley, Alyssia, Christian and Miles Sciandra, Hunter Dodd and Jillian Dodd. Brother: Ordale Dahl and his wife, Shirley of Houston, Texas Sisters: Beverly Toso and her husband, Sheldon of Alexandria, Minnesota LaVerne Berg of Glendive, Montana Sisters-In-Law: Karen Auka and her husband, Charles Virginia Watne all of Bisbee, ND Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Edith and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mikkal and Laura Watne and brother, Duane Dahl.
