Mary E. McGarvey, 76 of Devils Lake formerly of York and Leeds, ND died on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake.

Mary Ellen Yost was born at York, ND on February 3, 1932, the daughter of John and Mable (Hector) Yost. She attended grade school at Knox and York, ND and high school at Leeds, ND.
Mary was united in marriage to James K. McGarvey from Brinsmade, ND on December 5, 1952 at Leeds, ND. They established their home in Leeds and Mary worked along side her husband in the custom hay hauling business for many years. James died on February 25, 1993. Mary continued to make Leeds her home until January of 1995 when she moved to Devils Lake.
While living in Devils Lake, Mary was active in the Foster Grandparent Program and the Senior Citizen Center. She was a baptized and confirmed member of the Leeds Lutheran Church.
Mary enjoyed doing embroidery and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. But most of all, Mary was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and she will be so very missed by her family but forever in their hearts.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Sheryl Ann Beckstrand and her husband, Bradley of Warwick and Sandra Faye Tarang of Minot, ND.
Four Grandchildren: Linsey (Jeff) Schempp, Ragen (Greg) Bracken, Thomas James Wallace “T.J.” Tarang and Calby Beckstrand.
Seven Great Grandchildren: Broady, Patrick, Gabrick, Megen, Hope, Paige and Whyatt.
Sister: Jean Lund and her husband, Don of Tioga, ND
Brothers: Lowell Yost and Larry Yost both of Sacramento, California
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James.
