Theodore Edward Thoreson was born on February 14, 1914 in Ramsey County, Devils Lake, ND, the son of Nels and Alice (Peterson) Thoreson. He attended Central School in Devils Lake and then worked for the Civilian Conservation Corp. in Lost Corners, Arkansas. He returned to North Dakota and worked as an automobile mechanic for Lake Chevrolet for 30 years. On June 17, 1944, Ted was united in marriage to Muriel Sofia Anderson at Sheyenne, ND. They established their home in Devils Lake. In 1968 they moved to Grand Forks where Ted continued his work as an auto mechanic at Rydell’s and in the later years also worked as a cab driver. In 1993, Ted retired and they moved back to Devils Lake. In September of 2002, Ted moved to the Good Samaritan Center.
Ted loved working on cars. He also enjoyed tinkering with bikes and lawn mowers. After Ted retired, he and Muriel enjoyed traveling and were able to visit both coasts and many places in between. Ted always considered the time spent with Muriel, his children and grandchildren as the most precious and he will be greatly missed by those who called him husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and dear friend.
