Hilda V. Hall

Hilda V. Hall, 84, of Devils Lake, formerly of Maddock, ND died May 30, 2005 at the Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake. Funeral Services for Hilda will be held on Friday, June 3, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake. Rev. Harold Ovre will officiate and burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Friday at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Hilda’s Granddaughters, Debbie Hall, Rhonda Roed and Kirsten Mueller and grandson, Gary Hall. Active Pallbearers will be Hilda’s Grandsons, Dale, Darin, Nathan, Justin, Derek and Adam Hall. Music will be cared for by Kirsten Mueller, Soloist and Lynda Pearson, Organist. Hilda Viola Hall was born on August 19, 1920 at Maddock, ND the daughter of Arthur and Mary (Johnson) Anderson. She attended school in Maddock and was united in marriage to Helge Hall of Esmond, ND on December 19, 1940. Hilda and Helge farmed in the Esmond and York area and raised four sons, Kenneth, Harlen, Lawrence and Warren. In the spring of 1959, Hilda and Helge moved to Devils Lake where Hilda worked for a variety of companies. Over the next thirty years, Hilda worked for the Dakota Hatchery, Happy Hour Café, Lake Theatre, Coast-to-Coast Hardware Store and Mann’s Department Store. Helge died on August 5, 1993. Hilda was active in the York Lutheran Church ladies aid for many years and participated in the Devils Lake Eagles Auxiliary where she held many offices and marched in the Eagles Drill Team. Hilda was honored with the “Mrs. Eagle Award” in 1989-1990. She was also active at the St. Olaf Lutheran Church where she participated in many fund raising bazaars and served regularly on the Faith and Care Groups. Hilda is survived by her loving sons: Kenneth Hall and wife, Barbara of Devils Lake, ND Harlen Hall and wife, Jill of Cleethorpes, England Larry Hall and wife, Pamela of St. Paul, Minnesota Daughter-In-Law: Debbie Hall of Minot, ND Ten Grandchildren: Dale, Darin, Gary, Nathan, Justin, Derek and Adam Hall and Debbie Hall, Rhonda Roed and Kirsten Mueller. Eight Great Grandchildren: Alexandra, Abigail, and Austin Mueller; Zachary and Hallie Roed; Montana, Alicia and Owen Hall. Brother: Victor Anderson and wife, Beverly, York, ND Sisters: Ruth Burgess, Minot, ND Norma Jacobson, Devils Lake Hilda was preceded in death by her husband, Helge; son, Warren Hall and brother Arnold Anderson. Memorials may be directed in Hilda’s name to the Heartland Care Center, the Eagles Auxiliary or the National Cancer Society.
