Louis Leon Jackson, Jr. Win Yan Kuwapi (Women Chase Me) “Hello,Hello”, 62 of St. Michael, ND died Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at the Valley Elder Care Center, Grand Forks, ND
Funeral Services for Louis will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Fr. Paul Ruge will officiate and burial will be in the St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery.
A Wake and Prayer Service will be held on Friday, June 3, 2005 beginning at 5:00 pm. with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 8:00 p.m. at St. Michael’s Recreation Center. A procession to the St. Michael’s Recreation Center will leave at 4:30 p.m. on Friday from the former Lake Country Auto Parking Lot in Devils Lake.

Music will be provided by the Lake Region Singers, Northern Nation and Tony and Vina McDonald.
Louis Leon Jackson Jr. was born on May 6, 1943 at the Old Hospital, rural Fort Totten, ND to Louis and Katherine (Black) Jackson. Louis attended school at the Fort Totten Boarding School, Little Flower School, Maddock Boarding School and Flandreau Indian School. On April 2, 1965, Louis married Diane Jones at Minnewaukan, ND. They made their home in rural St. Michael. Louis entered the Relocation Program at Chicago, Illinois for auto mechanics and returned to the area in 1966 with his family. In 1998, Louis received his G.E.D. from Little Hoop Community College and went on to receive his Dakota Language Teaching Certificate. Upon receiving his Language Certificate, Louis taught the Dakota Language at the Little Hoop Headstart Center in St. Michael where he was also a bus monitor. Louis was also employed at Sioux Manufacturing Corporation and a short time at the Spirit Lake Casino and most recently he was employed at the St. Michael Church Parish. Louis was a champion Grass Dancer. He loved fishing reading, he played on the Basketball Team “The Arrows”, and especially loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and all of his many, many friends and relatives.

Louis was preceded in death by his parents; son, Samuel D. Jackson, Sr.; brother, Samuel Jackson; grandson, Dillon Jackson.
