Curtis L. Overbo, 60, of rural Starkweather, ND died on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake, ND.
Funeral Services for Curtis will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity-Bergen Lutheran Church, Starkweather, ND, with Rev. Robert Buechler and Rev. Daniel Overbo officiating. Burial will be in the Bergen Cemetery, rural Garske, ND, on Sunday, April 27, 2008 at 12:30 p.m.
Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Visitation on Saturday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
Casket Bearers for Curtis will be Konley Wolla, Bruce Wolla, Clayton Overbo, Roger Pederson, Bill Goodwill, Dave Thompson, Richard Million, and Alan Burkholder.
Honorary Bearers will be Gordon Overbo, Donald Overbo, Kenneth Sauter, Dean Winter, Maurice Goodwill, Dennis Boyd and Dennis Berg.
Music will be congregational hymns with Carol Sue Pederson as the organist.
Curtis Leonard was born on July 16, 1947 at Devils Lake, ND the son of Fred and Myrtle (Nesvik) Overbo. He grew up in Starkweather and graduated from Starkweather High School in 1965. He attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN and graduated with a BA in English and Religion in 1969. After graduating he served with the Peace Corps in the Philippines. He returned to North Dakota and was united in marriage to Kathlyn Rajala on June 5, 1971. Curtis was always a very forward thinker and had an entrepreneurial spirit. In that vein he farmed in the Starkweather area, growing and marketing organic wheat with his cousin, Gordon Overbo. Later he became involved in the Captive Column construction concept, co-founded the Grayling Boat Company and Contag Data Systems. He later worked with Transport Data Systems of Brookings, SD and Central Futures of Clyde, ND. Curtis had been a member of Trinity-Bergen Lutheran Church, Starkweather and St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake.
Curtis thrived on the adventures of the high plains. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting; he was a skilled marksman and ammunition reloader and enjoyed attending gun shows throughout the state. He also belonged to the NRA and in his college years he was politically active in several organizations on campus including Students for a Democratic Society. Other hobbies included travel, reading, photography, nutrition, alternative medicine, and computers. A life-long learner, Curtis stayed current in the state-of-the-industry and state-of-the-art practices in all the areas of his interests and expertise.

Several nieces, nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
