Ray M. Hanson, 82 of Devils Lake, formerly of the Brinsmade/Churchs Ferry area of North Dakota died on Sunday afternoon, March 11, 2007 at Mercy Hospital.
Funeral Services for Ray will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel, Devils Lake. Burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Neathery-Simensen Post #756, Devils Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
Ray M. Hanson was born on June 21, 1924 at Brinsmade, ND the son of Ole and Pearl (Olson) Hanson. He was reared and educated in the Brinsmade/Churchs Ferry area. He enlisted in the United States Army at Fort Snelling, MN on February 26, 1946. He served his country during World War II with the Anti Tank Company 20th Infantry Regiment. He was honorably discharged at Camp Stonemen, California on August 25, 1947 with the rank of Technician 5th Grade. He returned to North Dakota and worked on construction most of his life including the Garrison Diversion Project and construction jobs throughout California and Colorado. He also worked for a time in a plywood factory in Montana. After retiring, he lived in Montana and Wyoming and nine years ago moved to Devils Lake to be closer to family.
Ray was an avid hunter and fisherman and was already looking forward to the fall hunting season. He truly enjoyed being a part of his sister’s family and loved their time together.
Ray is survived by his sister, Ruth Quam of East Grand Forks, Minnesota

Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Eileen.
