Peter B. Schiff, 93, of Devils Lake formerly of the Penn area, ND died on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at the Good Samaritan Center in Devils Lake. Mass of Christian Burial for Peter will be held on Friday, April 27, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel, Devils Lake. Fr. Robert Pecotte will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Devils Lake. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Peter B. Schiff was born in Rugby, ND on March 18, 1914 the son of Rochus and Magdelena (Ganje) Schiff. He was reared and educated in the Rugby area and in 1936 moved to the Devils Lake area. He farmed with his Dad in the Penn area and also worked as a bartender at the Nite Owl Lounge. On May 22, 1970, Peter was united in marriage to Erika (Rickmann) Bruntjen at Crookston, Minnesota. They lived at the family farm for about 5 years, then moved into Devils Lake where they have made their home through the years. Peter remained very active and independent, doing his own yard work and snow shoveling until he entered the Good Samaritan Center in January of 2007. Peter loved music and was very talented on many instruments including the piano, organ, banjo and drums. He played in his brother’s band “Frank Schiff and his Orchestra” for many years, playing at many wedding dances and community events in the area. Frank also enjoyed gardening and was known for his ability to grow top-notch tomatoes. But most of all, Frank loved to visit with family, friends and neighbors. Peter is survived by his wife, Erika Step Daughter: Berith Clark of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin Grandchildren: Dustin (Faith) Bruntjen, Mac Clark, Danielle Clark and Samantha Clark. Great Grandson: Austin Bruntjen Sisters-In-Law: Veronica Schiff of Devils Lake Kate Christianson of Germany Several Nieces, Nephews, Grand Nieces, Grand Nephews and Great Grand Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Frank in infancy and his brother, Frank J. Schiff.
