Helen M. Schepp, 94 of Devils Lake, ND died on Sunday afternoon, May 6, 2007 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake, ND.
Mass of Christian Burial for Helen will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake. Fr. C.F. Wilhelm will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Friday, May 11, 2007 from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Saturday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass.
Serving as Casket Bearers will be Helen’s Grandchildren, Joe Papachek, Darris Miller, Joelle Ramos, David Ferguson, Bradley Ferguson, Steven Ferguson and Elizabeth Daniell.
Gift Bearers will be Katie, Kelsey and Lora Papachek.
Helen Margaret, one of thirteen children to Frank and Johanna (Thomas) Burckhard was born on August 1, 1912 at Orrin, North Dakota. At a young age she moved with her family to the Devils Lake area where she was reared and educated. After completing her education she worked for Majestic Cleaners for several years. Helen was united in marriage to Joseph C. “Joe” Schepp on August 29, 1936 at Devils Lake. They established their home in Devils Lake where they would live, work and raise their family through the years. Helen worked for many years as a cashier at Leever’s Super Value after the children were in school. Joe died on March 14, 1995.
Helen was a life long member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Infant of Prague Altar Society Circle and also was a member of the Foresters.
Helen was a very talented seamstress and enjoyed all kinds of arts and crafts. She always looked forward to a new challenge with the many different types of hobby and craft kits she enjoyed working on. But most of all, Helen devoted her life to her faith and her family. Her warm, loving smile and twinkle in her eye will be greatly missed and she will be forever in our hearts.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe; four brothers, Ned, Tony, Jack and her twin brother, Andy Burckhard; four sisters, Amelia Ganje, Josephine Mastel; Kris Axtman and Eva Burckhard.
