Ruby J. Boehmer, 66 of Devils Lake, ND died on Wednesday afternoon, May 9, 2007 at the Towner County Medical Center, Cando, ND.
Funeral Services for Ruby will be held on Monday, May 14, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, Devils Lake. Rev. Marvin Winstryg will officiate and burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Monday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Ruby will be her grandsons, Christopher Schmaltz, Jeremy Schmaltz, Travis Schmaltz, Dustin Boehmer, Jeff Heilman and Greg Ulland.
Honorary Bearers will be Ruby’s Great Nieces, Great Nephews and all of Ruby’s Co-Workers
Music will be provided by Mary Oehlke, soloist and Lynda Pearson, organist
Ruby was born on November 19, 1940 in Brinsmade, ND the daughter of John and Mollie (Skytland) Aabrekke.
She was reared and educated in Brinsmade and also attended the Leeds Public School. Ruby received her GED while attending the Bismarck Technical School and this is also where she received her degree as an Administrative Assistant. She then began employment at the Human Services Center, working there for several years. She also worked at Lake Region Corporation and 4th Corp. At the time of her death, Ruby was the Director of the Devils Lake Crisis Center where she was employed for many years. Ruby was united in marriage to Duane L. Boehmer on April 10, 1992 in Devils Lake where they made their home.
Ruby was a member of the First United Methodist Church and also served on the Staff/Parish Relations Committee for many years. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary and also the Rebekah’s.
Ruby was an avid reader, reading volumes of books and especially enjoyed reading magazines. She always enjoyed Bingo and the Casino as a relaxing outing and a time to visit with friends old and new.
Ruby was a dedicated employee and her work ethic was beyond reproach. But she truly devoted herself to her family. She always wanted her home filled with their presence, their laughter, their celebrations and they never left without enjoying a delicious meal and the best baked goods around. May she rest now in God’s peace.

Grandchildren: Chris Schmaltz, Jeremy Schmaltz, Travis (Kinsey) Schmaltz, Chad Schmaltz, Brandie (Greg) Ulland, Charla Heilman, Jeff Heilman, Dustin Boehmer, Sarah (Chad) Britton, Roy Wessels and Ashley Wessels.
Great Grandchildren: Jailyn Schmaltz and Emily Britton
Brother: Gilbert Aabrekke and his wife, Gertie also of Devils Lake
Nieces and Nephews: Marlys Joramo, Susan (Jim) Krantz, Daniel (Anita) Aabrekke, John (Melinda) Everson and Mark Everson.
Faithful Canine Companion: Buffy
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Ardell Ferestad and Marion Everson.
