Edwin Johnnie Frederick

Edwin J. Frederick, 93 of Warwick, ND passed away Saturday, May 5, 2007 at the Good Samaritan Center, Devils Lake, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, St. Michael, ND. Fr. Robert Pecotte and Fr. Charles Leute, O.P. will concelebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Wednesday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass. Serving as Casket Bearers will be Edwin’s grandsons, Allan Nelson, Kevin Nelson, Lonnie Frederick and Gary D. Frederick and Edwin’s great grandsons, Michael Held, Jacob Held, Dane Severinson ad Brandin Nelson. Honorary Bearers will be Edwin’s Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren and his many friends and neighbors. Music will be provided by Peter A. Hager and CeCe Kraft. Edwin Johnnie Frederick was born on March 27, 1914 in Silver Leaf Township, Frazee, Minnesota. He was the son of Carl Henry and Elizabeth (Illg) Frederick. The family moved to Tokio, ND when Edwin was six years old. He attended school in Tokio until the 8th grade. Edwin raised cattle and sheep and farmed in the Tokio area all of his life. He was united in marriage to Martha Bonn on December 3, 1938 at Devils Lake. Martha died on December 27, 1991. Edwin loved to hunt, fish and was an avid trapper. He served on the Woodlake Township Board for over sixty years. Edwin is survived by his children, Bernadine Nelson and her husband, Duane of St. Michael, ND Gary Frederick and his wife, Gail of Warwick, ND Eleven Grandchildren: Jacqueline Nelson, Joan (Terry) Belgarde, Gail (Randy) Severinson, Allan (Marla) Nelson, Mary (Jim) Langley, Karla (Kelvin) Mack, Kristi (Jay) Hartl, Kim (Dave) Brown, Kevin (Janet) Nelson, Lonnie Frederick and Gary D. (Kate) Frederick. Twenty Two Great Grandchildren One Great Great Granddaughter Sister: Hilda Rohal of Benson, Arizona Sister-In-Law: Isabel Mattson of Aneta, ND Brother-In-Law: Vincent Bonn of Rolette, ND He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-three years, Martha; parents; grandson, Larry Allan Nelson and brothers, Carl and Lawrence Frederick.
