Janice Mae was born on February 23, 1953 at Fort Totten, ND to Marie Lohnes and Jerome Adams. Janice attended school at the Calvary Square, Maddock and Warwick. She received her GED from the State of North Dakota and graduated from Little Hoop Community College. She then worked at Mercy Hospital as a nurses’ assistant, St. Michael Elementary School, Sioux Manufacturing Corp., Dakota Tribal Industries, St. Jude’s Elderly Home and Bell Isle Store. She was at one time married to Donald Belgarde Sr. Janice enjoyed tending to all her flowers in her garden, planting trees, drying and preserving food for the winter, cooking and baking. She also spent her time reading books, doing crafts, doing bead work and caring for animals. Janice always had time for her many friends and family that would come to her for help or advice. She also enjoyed playing slot machines at the casino. Janice crossed paths with many lives in this world. To those that have come to know her, seeking her advice, needing someone to talk to, or needing someone just to listen know that she was a very independent, knowledgeable, caring, loving, strong-hearted and a straight forward woman. Janice always told you the truth, even when it was not what you wanted to hear. Her advice to you was always told to you in a very direct manner. But yet, the advice she offered to you, the choice was always for you to decide. The work and love Janice had for the people was immense and not fully realized until she had completed her duties here on earth. It was then she made the choice to begin her journey to be with relatives in the Spirit World.
