Stanley E. Hahn, 77 of Grand Forks formerly of Minnewaukan, ND died on Saturday evening, November 26, 2005 at Altru Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Mass of Christian Burial for Stanley will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake. Fr. C.F.Wilhelm will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. James Catholic Cemetery, Minnewaukan. Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Tuesday, November 29, 2005 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Wednesday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass. Serving as Honorary Casket Bearers will be: Raymond Buckmier, Paul Streifel, Mike Haman, Harlan Helgeson, Glen Hahn, Belinda Hahn, Kenny Johnson, Wayne Pershke, the Staff of Easter Seals of Grand Forks and all of Stanley’s Many Dear Friends. Active Casket Bearers will be: Branden Hahn, Jordan Hahn, Jeremy Beck, Jared Hahn, Tyler Crockett, Donnie Buckmier, Kenny Reis and Robert Wishart. Stanley Eugene Hahn was born on July 19, 1928 on the family farm in Benson County, North Dakota the son of Everett and Dorothy “Dollie” (Pritchard) Hahn. He was reared and educated in Benson County attending the Eldon Township School #1. He then took over the family farm. He raised livestock and had dairy cattle. Along with the farming, Stanley owned and operated his own Trucking Firm and also Custom Harvesting Operation. He eventually sold the farm and moved his Harvesting business to Pratt, Kansas where he lived and worked through the years. In 1997, Stanley returned to North Dakota and made his home in Devils Lake, Minnewaukan and for the past four years in Grand Forks. While living in North Dakota he worked at various occupations and was a Security Guard at Allied Security in Grand Forks until his death. Stanley was at one time married to Beatrice Buckmier whom he married on October 6, 1951 at Minnewaukan. He married Loretta Looney on September 12, 1986 at Pratt, Kansas Stanley was a member of St. James Catholic Church, the Elks Lodge and Eagles and he also served as Treasurer of the Eldon Township Board. Stanley had a love for good food and making good friends. He loved to go to the various restaurants in any town that he lived and meet new friends and visit with old friends and family. Even after he was no longer trucking or doing custom harvesting he loved to be out on the road, taking in the scenery and the beauty of the countryside. He was a great historian and could remember names, dates and places of events years ago. He also always enjoyed a good game of cards. After returning to North Dakota, he came to love and appreciate again being close to family and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Stanley is survived by his sons: Duane “Dewey” Hahn and his wife, JoAnn of Devils Lake Mike Hahn and his wife, Cheryl of Grand Forks Ron “Ronnie” Hahn and his wife, Louise also of Grand Forks The sons’ mother, Beatrice Hahn, Grand Forks Ten Grandchildren: Jeremy (Tammi) Beck, Branden Hahn (Casey) and Jordan Hahn Chris Larson, Pam (John) Martin, Jennifer Hahn and Jared Hahn Chelsea (Tyler) Crockett, Andrea Hahn and Corbyn Hahn Great Grandchildren: Drew, Kali, Kamden, Dustin, Alex, Dylan, Treavean and Cadynn. Sisters: Margie (Bob) Wagner, Yuma, Arizona Lettie Annell, Minot, ND Donna Lou (John) Wishart, New Rockford, ND Janice (Paul) Reis also of New Rockford Sister-in-law: Pat Hahn, Lake Tahoe, Nevada Several Nieces and Nephews also survive Stanley was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Loretta Hahn and brother, Everett Hahn Jr. Friends may sign the on-line register book at www.gilbertsonfuneralhome.com
