William Harold St. Clair

William Harold St. Clair entered everlasting life with God on the evening of February 13, 2009 at his home in Devils Lake, ND. He died due to mesothelioma developed from exposure to asbestos. Funeral Services for Bill will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Devils Lake with Pastor Kevin Kaufmann and Pastor Bruce Dick officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the Neathery-Simensen Post #756, Devils Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Lake Region Honor Guard, Camp Grafton. Bill was born on December 31,1923 in Baltimore, MD, the only son of William Henry and Helen St. Clair. He grew up along the East Coast and received his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Lehigh University. Bill served in the U.S. Navy aboard a LCI in the South Pacific during WWII. After returning from the war, he married his fiance, Jeanne L. Scott, on October 31, 1945. They made their home in Baltimore, MD and raised two children, Bill and Nancy. In 1958, they moved to Cloquet, MN. They lived in Cloquet and Esko, MN for 49 years. Bill began his career at the Exxon refinery in the Baltimore Harbor. He continued his work at the oil refinery in Wrenshall, MN, where he retired in 1981. He had a great love and respect for all of God's creation. Bill is survived by his wife, Jeanne; daughter Nancy Ellen Johnson and son-in-law, Roger; grandson Ryan St. Clair and his wife Kristina, great grandsons William and Henry; granddaughter Kirsten Enget and her husband Chris, great grandson Samuel and baby due in August; grandson, Justin Johnson and his wife Heather with baby due in May; grandson, Joshua Johnson and his wife Tristan, great grandchildren Jayden and Rylyn. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and son, William Scott St. Clair. The family requests memorials be made to the CARE (care.org) or Guiding Eyes for the Blind (guidingeyes.org).
