Clifford E. Brown, “Et Oh Pehnah”, (They Come To Him), 59 of Tokio, ND died at his home on Monday, October 5, 2009. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, St. Michael, ND. Fr. Charles Leute O.P. will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Tokio Recreation Center, Tokio, ND on Monday, October 12, 2009 beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 8:00 p.m. The procession to the Tokio Recreation Center will leave from Wal-Mart at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Serving as Casket Bearers for Clifford will be Waylon Smith, Eldwin Guy, Sam Merrick Sr., Calvin Smith Sr., Candice Smith, Tennyson Blueshield, Lonnie Smith and Lincoln RedRoad. Honorary Bearers will be Rita Jackson and family, Myra Pearson and family, Betty Smith and family, Dianne Jackson and family, Alfred Jackson and family, Keith Longie and family, Jada Longie and family, Gerald Longie Jr. and family, Lynette Bigtrack and family, Debbie Little and family, Jason Thompson and family, Amanda Smith and family, Cheryl and Brooks GoodIron, Joseph and Marge Brown Jr., Robert and Mary Brown Sr., Joel and Natalie Redfox, Larry and Darla Thiele, Bernadette and Craig Brown, Yvonne Thompson, Carl Merrick, Terrance Guy Sr., Solomon LeftBear, Ardelle Guy, Darwin Brown, Sheila Thompson, Wesley Brown, Claude Black, William Black, Laurie Smith, Laura Smith, Calvin Smith Jr., Vance Thompson, Sr., Aaron Thompson, Sr., Adrian Thompson, Roger Brown, Dennis Frederick and Tony Guy. Our hearts are heavy with sadness and we ask your understanding if we have missed naming any of Clifford’s friends, it was not intentional. Music will be provided by Tony and Vina McDonald and the Rhythm Riders Drummers and Singers. The family would like to thank the Spirit Lake Ambulance Staff and Spirit Lake Police Department for their kindness and Dr. Downs for her words of comfort. Clifford Eugene was born on May 22, 1950 at Devils Lake, ND the son of the late Sylvia Brown and Joseph Abraham. He was raised at the Sheyenne River Homesite, in the St. Michael and Tokio areas. Clifford attended school at Little Flower School, St. Michael and the Wahpeton Indian School. He worked at Sioux Manufacturing Corporation for a time and later he took care of his grandparents, Sam and Winifred Cloud. Clifford was a quiet, humble man; but his kindness and love for his family showed his true nature of a man of great strength and compassion. He will be forever missed. Clifford is survived by his loving family: Adopted mother, Alvina Bear; sisters, Corrine Brown and Eunice (Daivd) Davidson; brothers, Russell (Deborah) Smith, Jacob Abraham, Stanley (Maricia) Littlewind, Wesley Littlewind and Calvin Littlewind; adopted brother, Duane Jackson Sr.; grandmother, Pauline Greywater; special aunt, Violet Smith; aunt, Esther Abraham; uncles, Elmer Brown and Joseph Brown Sr.; special nephews, Allan Brown, Eldwin Guy and Tennyson Blueshield; special nieces, Amy Brown, Holly Brown, Courtney Brown, Constance Brown, Rochelle Guy and Candice Smith; special grandchildren, Jayryl Guy, Jayla Guy, Kylen Guy, Kylana Guy, Xavier Brown and Nakomis Lawrence. Clifford was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvia Brown and Joseph Abraham; maternal grandparents, Winifred and Sam Cloud, Henry Brown, Theresa Feather and Mary Jackson; paternal grandparents, Jerome and Jennie Abraham; brothers, Curtis Greene, Allan Brown, Kenneth Abraham and Freeman Brown; uncles, Patrick Brown, Alfred Brown and Gerald Longie; aunts, Marie Brown, Carol Jackson and Doris Thompson; nephews, Edison Guy and Gideon Guy; cousin, Linus Thompson.
