Lorraine A. Korb Bjerke

Lorraine A. Korb Bjerke, 90 of Devils Lake, formerly of Calio and Cando, ND died on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Center, Devils Lake. Services for Lorraine will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel, Devils Lake on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. with Fr. Dale Kinzler officiating. Burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. Lorraine Ann was born on December 28, 1918 in Minnesota, the daughter of Frank and Katherine (Helton) Weisz. She moved with her family to the Calio area and attended school in Egeland, ND. She was united in marriage to Matthew Korb in 1937 and they established their home on the farm in the Calio area where they lived, worked and began their family. They later moved to Cando. Matthew died in 1977. Lorraine married Otto Bjerke in 1979 at Cando where they made their home. Otto died in 1981 and Lorraine later moved to Devils Lake to be closer to family. While living in Cando, Lorraine worked at the Jorde Brothers Potato Farm and also at Sioux Manufacturing in Fort Totten. Lorraine enjoyed Bingo and being with family and friends. She lived her life as a devoted wife and mother and dear friend to many. Lorraine is survived by her children, Roger Korb and his wife, Debra; Charles Korb and his wife, Joan both of Devils Lake; Cathy Connole and her husband, Kim of West Fargo; Glen Korb and Curtis Korb also of Devils Lake. Seventeen Grandchildren and many Great Grandchildren Sister: Gertrude Morris of Maryland. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Matthew Korb and Otto Bjerke; sisters, Lucille Pruett, Eleanor Mattern and Bertha Marcus; brothers, Tony Weisz and Jake Weisz.
