Margaret Nelson

Margaret Nelson, 95 of Devils Lake, ND died on Wednesday, October 12, 2005 at the Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake. Funeral Services for Margaret will be held on Friday, October 14, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Devils Lake. Rev. Marvin Winstryg will officiate. Graveside Services will be held on Friday, October 14, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at the Devils Lake Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Serving as Casket Bearers will be Margaret’s Grandchildren. Margaret Vander Heiden was born on December 4, 1909 in Cato Township, rural Edmore, ND, the 6th of ten children born to Albert and Sarah (Van Dyke) Vander Heiden. In the fall of 1925, Margaret moved with her parents and siblings to Devils Lake where she attended Devils Lake High School. Over the years, Margaret worked as a secretary-bookkeeper for Fairmont Creamery, Pederson-Brekke Accounting and the Powell-Kunkel Insurance Agency. Margaret was united in marriage to Lloyd P. Nelson on August 6, 1932 in Bismarck, ND. They established their home in Devils Lake where they lived worked and raised their family. Lloyd died on February 10, 1981. Margaret was a member of First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Rebekah Lodge and the RSVP. (Retired Seniors Volunteer Program) Margaret is survived by her Sons and Daughters-In-Law: Gerald and Pat Nelson, Devils Lake Roger and Margaret Nelson, Fargo, ND Five Grandchildren: Four Great Grandchildren: Sisters: Dora Cline of Minot, ND Eva Charon of Fargo, ND Elsie Timboe of Everett, Washington She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd; sisters, Lena Vander Heiden, Irene Collins, Alice Zessin, Marie Schledorn and Sally Ronningen and brother, Albert Vander Heiden.
