Margaret B. Ertmann

Margaret B. Ertmann, 92 of Devils Lake, ND formerly of the Alsen/Langdon area died on Friday afternoon, October 28, 2005 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Services for Margaret will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Devils Lake. Rev. Marvin Winstryg will officiate and burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Wednesday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Margaret Barbara Ring was born on May 9, 1913 on a farm near Langdon, ND the daughter of William and Amelia (Sieb) Ring. She attended a country school. She started baby sitting when she was 10 years old, babysitting during all school vacations. She helped at home until she married. Margaret married Karl Ertmann on June 14, 1931 in Alsen, ND. They established their home and farmed in North Loma Township. She enjoyed her chickens, ducks, garden and doing a lot of canning. In October of 1944, Karl and Margaret moved to Devils Lake. She continued to have a large vegetable garden and many flower gardens. Margaret worked at various jobs, including Mitchell’s Café, Colonial Hotel, Ben Franklin Store and Baker’s Rest Home, until she was 60 years old. Karl passed away on June 11, 1984. Margaret continued to live in Devils Lake where she was a member of the United Methodist Church and Ladies Aid. She also taught Sunday School for many years. In addition to gardening and raising flowers, she enjoyed sewing, fancy work, quilting and doing artwork. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother for three years. Spending time with grandchildren and other family members also occupied much of her time through the years. Margaret is survived by her loving family.
