Freeman L. Brown, our beloved Dad, Brother, Uncle and Grandpa, of the Tokio/Fort Totten area journeyed to the Spirit World on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND with his family at his side. The Wake for Freeman will be held at St. Michael’s Recreation Center, St. Michael, ND on Thursday, January 1, 2009 beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 8:00 p.m. The Procession to St. Michael’s Recreation Center will leave Wal-Mart at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 2, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Fr. Brian Moen will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery. Serving as Casket Bearers for Freeman will be Joel Redfox, Eldwin Guy, Darwin Brown, Jason Thompson, Alfred Jackson and Dexter Greywind. Freeman Leo Brown was born on October 17, 1961 in Devils Lake, ND and was raised in Tokio, ND. He attended elementary school in rural Tokio, Warwick Public School and then attended and received his GED at Kicking Horse Job Corp in Montana. He then moved to Minneapolis, MN where he resided for 10 years. He then moved to Fargo, ND for a few years before returning to the Tokio and Fort Totten area. Freeman is survived by his daughters: Felicitia (Allen) Green, Wood Lake, ND; Constance Paul-Brown, Tokio; Courtney Paul-Brown, St. Michael and Marie Paul, Fargo; Sons: Tennyson BlueShield, Tokio and Alfred Paul, Fargo; Grandson: Allen DeMarce Jr., Wood Lake; Special Friend: Anna McKay, Fort Totten; Sister: Corrine Brown, St. Michael; Brothers: Clifford Brown, Tokio; Russell (Deborah) Smith, Tokio; Virgil (Vonnie) Feather, Warwick; Melvin Feather, Fort Yates and Albert Thompson, St. Michael; Special Nieces: Amy (Anthony) Brown, Holly (Kyle) Brown and Rochelle Guy all of Tokio; Special Nephews: Allen Brown, St. Michael; Eldwin Guy, Tokio and Qwade Whiteman, Fort Totten; Uncles: Elmer Brown, Tokio and Joe Brown Sr. of New Rockford, ND; Grandmother: Pauline Greywater, St. Michael; Aunt; Gladys First of Poplar, Montana; Special Aunts: Violet Smith and Yvonne Thompson both of Tokio; Godmother: Melinda Thompson Freeman was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvia Brown and Melvin Feather Sr.; maternal grandparents, Winifred and Sam Cloud, Henry Brown, Theresa Feather, and Mary Jackson; paternal grandparents, Henry Feather, Mary Jane Meade; brothers, Phillip “Bucky” Feather, Curtis Greene, Allan Brown; sister, Linda Feather; uncles, Patrick Brown, Alfred Brown, Gerald Longie; aunts, Marie Brown, Carol Jackson; nephews, Edison Guy, Gideon Guy; godmother, Doris Thompson; and cousin, Linus Thompson.
