OLIVE E. HAGEN
Olive Hagen, age 86, of Devils Lake died in Fargo, ND August 30, 2009.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake, September 2, 2009 at 11:00. Rev. Jeff Nicla will officiate and interment will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery.
Friends may call at St. Olaf Lutheran Church on Wednesday beginning at 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
Olive was born February 27, 1923 in Nekoma, ND, the daughter of Eddie and Eleanor (Eng) Nelson. She was raised and educated in rural Edmore. She married Morris Hagen July 16, 1943 in Tampa, Florida. She and Morris farmed in the Edmore area where they established their home, until they moved to Devils Lake in 1955. Morris went to work at Camp Grafton, retiring in 1979. Olive was head cook at Devils Lake Central High School for 26 ½ years.
Olive enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, writing to her pen pals and spending time with her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, the Elks, Rebekah’s, and the Republican Party.
She is survived by two daughters Judy and her husband, Tim Zimmer, Bismarck, ND; Jean Hagen Fargo, ND: her grandchildren Justin Zimmer (Jodi) Ft. Sill, OK; Jodi Renschler (Rob), Des Moines, IA; Max Piepkorn Fargo, ND. Her great grandchildren Jack and Jewel Zimmer, Ft Sill, OK and Paige Renschler, Fargo, ND; her sister, Myrtle Walker of Minot, ND, her special nieces, Candy Regan (Dick) and Debbie Howard; her special friend, Cathy Wolf.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse Morris Hagen on May 18, 1986; brothers Vic and Lyle Nelson, and her sister Ruby Hagen; brother-in-laws Rueben Hagen and Bill Walker.
