She attended Minot State Teachers’ College and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education and Physical Education in 1964. In the fall of 1964, she began her first teaching position in Libby, Montana. On June 12, 1965, Sharon was united in marriage to Allan Knutt at All Nation’s Lutheran Church in Rock Lake. They moved to Fargo and Allan finished college and Sharon continued teaching. In 1967, they returned to the Rock Lake area and began farming and were also owner/operators of Knutt Farm Equipment. They established their home here and lived, worked and raised their five children through the years. Sharon taught off and on as the children were growing up and when they were all school age, she went back to teaching full-time. She taught Junior High at Rock Lake until she retired in 2003. Sharon was a member of All Nation’s Lutheran Church in RockLake and after moving to Devils Lake was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the NDEA. Teaching was Sharon’s passion and she enjoyed every student and every year was always a great school year to Sharon. Even after retiring she continued to substitute teach in Rock Lake and Devils Lake. As a dedicated teacher, she knew the value of learning and continuing education and took classes and attended workshops whenever she could. She was an avid reader and loved the outdoors. She went for daily walks and enjoyed outdoor sports and the beauty of nature. When wintering in Arizona, she was involved in water volleyball and tennis.
