Phyllis “Elaine” Logan, 85 of Arthur, ND formerly of the Calvin/Sarles and Devils Lake, ND areas died on Thursday, December 25, 2008 at the Arthur Good Samaritan Center.
Funeral Services for Elaine will be held on Monday, December 29, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake. Rev. Bruce Dick will officiate and burial will be in the Glenila Presbyterian Cemetery, Calvin, ND in the spring.
Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Elaine will be, Chad Perdue, Travis Perdue, Todd Logan, Darren Logan, Shawn Meland-Logan and Tanner Logan.
Music will be provided by Trudy Dick.
Phyllis was born on August 3, 1923 at Sarles, ND the daughter of George and Ethel (Kays) Mortimer. She was reared and educated in the Sarles area, graduating from Sarles High School. Phyllis was united in marriage to Chester C. Logan on April 18, 1942 at Cando, ND. They established their home on the farm, rural Calvin where they farmed side by side and raised their family through the years. In 1969 they moved to Devils Lake and Phyllis worked as the secretary for Lake Region Junior College and later was the payroll clerk at Mercy Hospital for many years, retiring in 1985. They continued to make Devils Lake their home until moving to Arthur, ND in 2006
Phyllis was an active member of the Glenila Presbyterian Church at Calvin and later the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Devils Lake. She was a 4-H Leader for several years and was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge where she held office and also did much of their clerical work.
Phyllis loved to cook and sew and share her creations with family and friends. She loved the beautiful garden produce and flowers that Chester so willingly tended to through the years. We shall miss her bright eyes and loving smile, but will hold dear the legacy of faith and love she has left us all.

Three Sons: Robert “Bob” Logan and his wife, Linda of Hunter, ND; Don Logan and his wife, Vicki of Devils Lake and Arthur Logan of West Fargo, ND;
Five Grandchildren: Todd Logan, Robin (Shawn Meland) Meland-Logan, Darren (Ruth) Logan; Chad Perdue and Travis Perdue;
Seven Great Grandchildren: Tanner, Desireé, Alyssa, Owen; Kimberly, Tiffany and LeAnn;
Sisters: Inez Moore of Cando, ND and Marion Kuster of Spokane, Washington;
Many nieces, nephews and their families also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; children, Phyllis and Billy in infancy; brothers, Ken, Charles and Richard Mortimer and sisters, Carol Brandvold and Donna Keller.
