Rudolph C. Hanson, 92 of Devils Lake formerly of Garske, ND died on Friday, September 2, 2005 at the Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake.
Funeral Services for Rudy will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Devils Lake. Rev. Jamie Desai will officiate and burial will be in Devils Lake Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with the family present beginning at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Thursday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Rudy will be his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Rudolph Carl Hanson was born May 12, 1913 on the family farm in Coolin Township, Towner County, ND, the son of Sander and Jennie (Braathen) Hansen. Rudy attended Coolin Grade School and graduated from Starkweather High School on June 7, 1929, then attended Wahpeton School of Science. Rudy was united in marriage to Anne Moen on March 20, 1937 in the Cando Lutheran Parsonage. Their home was established on the Sather farm in Coolin Township, Towner County, rural Starkweather. Rudy and Anne farmed there through the years, retiring in 1970. The farm continued to be their home until 1978 when they moved to Devils Lake. After Anne died on January 23, 1988, Rudy moved to Parkwood Place Retirement Center in Grand Forks. In 1997 he returned to Devils Lake and resided at the Lake Country Manor until entering the Heartland Care Center in 2001.
Rudy was a life member of the Devils Lake Elks Lodge, the Sons of Norway, the Odd Fellows and the Lutheran Church. He was a farmer at heart and always enjoyed planting his garden and fields, watching the miracle of growth each year. Rudy took a great deal of pleasure in his family of children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was known to play a foxy game of checkers with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anne; parents, Sander and Jennie Hansen; brother and sister-in-law, Emil and Mable Hansen and one niece.
