Valentine “Val” Bosch, of Devils Lake passed away at the age of 79, following a long battle with cancer early Wednesday morning, November 5th, 2008 at Heartland Care Center in Devils Lake, ND. Val entered eternal life surrounded by his loving family. Mass of Christian Burial for Val will be held on Saturday, November 8th, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake. Fr. Kinzler will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the Neathery-Simensen Post #756, Devils Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars and Lake Region Honor Guard, Camp Grafton. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake ND on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation on Saturday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Serving as Casket Bearers for Val will be his Sons-In-Law, Frank LaRocque, Dale Sedlezky, Mark Anderson and Jeff Miller and Grandsons Travis LaRocque, Joshua Pulst and Brandon Pulst. Honorary Bearers will be Val’s remaining Grandchildren. Music will be provided by Paul Traynor and JoDee Lagein Reading the Sacred Scriptures will be Francis Bosch and Terry Bosch Bringing forth the Eucharistic Gifts will be Danielle, Alec and Kale Miller. Val was born May 18, 1929 to Ignatz and Mary (Burckhardt) Bosch in Linton ND. He graduated from Linton High School in 1947. Upon graduation Val entered into the United States Army and retired in December 1987. He had a long and honorable military technician career which spanned 35 years at Camp Grafton, Devils Lake ND. During this time he served as an Electronics Repairman and Electronics Measuring Equipment Repairman at the Combined Support Maintenance Shop. For many years Val served as the state’s only repairman and maintained the state’s communication assets in a high state of readiness. On December 27th 1951 Val was united in marriage to Clare Gartner at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New England, ND. This marriage was blessed with 6 wonderful children. A son , Terrence and daughters Valerie, Debora, Pamela, Sandra and Kathleen. Clare passed away on March 2nd, 1976. On February 9th, 1980 Val married Isabelle Bakken at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Devils Lake, ND. Val was an avid gardener, fisherman and hunter. Val shared this passion with his family. The memories of those special times will be forever cherished. Val is survived by his wife Isabelle of Devils Lake Son: Terry (Joni) Bosch , Ely MN; Daughters Valerie (Frank) LaRocque, Dunseith, ND; Deb (Dale) Sedlezky, Freeman SD; Pam (Mark) Anderson, Jamestown ND; Sandy (Randy) Weishaar, Flower Mound, TX; Kathy (Jeff) Miller, Cando ND. Stepson: Gene (Patty) Bakken, Devils Lake ND. Brother: Francis (Verna) Bosch, Bismarck ND; Sister: Martina Bauman, Linton ND. 15 Grandchildren, 9 Step-Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren. Val was preceded in death by his parents Ignatz and Mary, wife, Clare; brother Fr. Henry Bosch; sister, Monica Peerboom,step-daughter, Sandi Lovin, grand-daughter Amanda Lee LaRocque and step grandson, Kyle Bjerke.
