Delima R. “Kima” Jackson, 62 of St. Michael, ND died early Saturday morning, September 3, 2005 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND.
Funeral Services for Delima will be held on Friday, September 9, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, St. Michael. Fr. Paul Ruge will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery.
A Wake and Prayer Service will be held at St. Michael’s Recreation Center on Thursday, September 8, 2005 beginning at 5:00 p.m. with the Rosary Service at 8:00 p.m.
The procession to St. Michael’s Recreation Center will leave the former Lake Country Auto Parking Lot at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Serving as Casket Bearers will be: Martin Hegland, Emerson Big Track Jr., Charles DeMarce, Sage DeMarce, Walter T. Cavanaugh, Wayden DuBois, Richard Cavanaugh and Vernell Jackson.
Honorary Casket Bearers will be: Tyrell Cavanaugh, Pernell Cavanaugh, Tom Big Track, Lydell Big Track, Skip and Darlys Longie, Tammie DeMarce, Faye Jetty, all the Tribal Elders and all of Delima’s Many Friends and Co-Workers.
The Drum Group for the Wake Service will be the Eagle Tail Singers.
Delima Rose Cavanaugh was born on May 17, 1943 at Fort Totten, ND the daughter of Thomas and Lillian (Redday) Cavanaugh. She attended school at St. Michael, Maddock, and Wahpeton, ND and received her nurses aide certificate at Little Hoop Community College in Fort Totten. She married Robert Putnam of Maddock in 1962 and they had three daughters, Rose Marie, Doreen and Debra. She later married Allan Hegland of White Earth, ND in 1966. They resided in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and had four children, Florence Ann, Martin Thomas, Sandra Olivia and Alicia Faye. Delima also raised three nephews as her sons. The family moved Tokio, ND in 1981. Delima was united in marriage to Wilford Jackson of St. Michael in 1986. They established their home in St. Michael where they have lived through the years. Kima was a Foster Parent for 10 years, worked as a nurses aide at St. Jude’s Elderly Home and also worked for a time at Sioux Manufacturing. For the past five years, Kima has worked at Spirit Lake Casino and Resort as a housekeeping supervisor. Delima loved her job and her family very much. She enjoyed playing bingo at the casino and crocheting. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
