Dennis L. Lindenberg, 72 of Cando formerly of Starkweather, ND died on Sunday, October 5, 2008 at the Towner County Living Center, Cando, ND. Funeral Services for Dennis will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel, Devils Lake. Rev. Robert Buechler will officiate and burial will be in the Trinity-Bergen Lutheran Cemetery, rural Starkweather. Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home on Tuesday (today) from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Music will be provided by Cathy Anfinson Dennis Lee was born on June 1, 1936 at Starkweather, ND the son of Emil and Lillian (Smith) Lindenberg. He was reared and educated in the Starkweather area attending country school. He spent his working years farming and raising cattle; first in the Starkweather area, then in 1971, he and his brother, Leo bought a farm in the Crocus area. Due to health issues, they were forced to retire from the farming and ranching and in 2006 moved Cando. Dennis was a member of the Crocus Township Board and was also a member of Eagles Lodge in Devils Lake. Dennis was a true steward of the land and loved the serenity and beauty of country living. In his retirement he enjoyed going to auction sales, threshing shows, car shows and at least one visit to the Hawk Museum each year. Dennis is survived by his loving family. Sisters: Lorraine Evans and her husband, Floyd of Cando, ND Ilene Quackenbush and her husband, Robert of Rock Lake, ND Brother: Leo Lindenberg also of Cando Brother-In-Law: Robert Stotts, Devils Lake Sister-In-Law: Evelyn (Mrs.Glen) Lindenberg also of Devils Lake Many nieces, nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ione Thorstad, Doris Stotts and Byrdie Olson; brothers, Lyle Lindenberg and Glen Lindenberg.
