Janet E. Wood, 58, life long resident of rural Crary, ND a retired Lake Region State College Instructor, died on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at the Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake. Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 19, 2005 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake. Rev. Harold Ovre will officiate and burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home on Friday from 9 a.m.until 9:00 p.m. with a Family Service at 7:00 p.m.. Visitation on Saturday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be all former and present faculty, administration and staff of Lake Region State College. Dr. Sharon Etemad will give a eulogy, music provided by Donovan Foughty and Lynda Pearson. Pallbearers will be Art Rohr, Barry Cox, Dan Johnson, Jim Stromme, Ray Sletteland and Ray Stein. Janet Eileen Dimmler was born on August 8, 1946 in Devils Lake, North Dakota the daughter of Herman and Margaret (Peters) Dimmler. Janet was raised on a farm north of Crary. She graduated from Crary High School in 1964 and the University of North Dakota in 1968 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education. She had done graduate work through North Dakota State University, Colorado State University, Wisconsin State University and the University of North Dakota. Janet was united in marriage to Albert Wood February 3, 1968 in Crary. They established their home on a farm in Ontario Township north of Crary where they farmed. In 1970 they began to do custom combining work for Janet’s dad and in 1977 Albert and Janet started their own custom combining business. Janet started her teaching career in 1968 at Warwick High School. She taught there one year and in 1969 became an Office Education Instructor at Lake Region State College in Devils Lake where she taught for 31 years. ` Janet was a member of First Lutheran Church Crary and now St. Olaf Lutheran, Devils Lake. She taught Sunday School for 16 years and served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years in Crary. In October 2001 Janet was inducted into the LRSC Hall of Fame, served on the College Foundation Board of Directors where she was treasurer for many years, helped with the Key Event for the foundation, was advisor for the College Business Club and under her direction was named Business Club of the year many times, member of the North Central Accreditations, and National Business Education Association. Janet received the Unsung Hero Award in Devils Lake in December of 2002. Survived by Husband: Albert Sons and Daughters in Law: Steve and Erin of Devils Lake, North Dakota Jason and Tammy of Franktown, Colorado Grandchildren: Madison Margaret and Zachary Michael Wood Tanner Jason Wood Brothers: Gerald (Lynda) Dimmler of Crary, North Dakota James “Jimmy” Dimmler of Crary, North Dakota Sister: Judy (Dennis) Thompson of Devils Lake, North Dakota Sister in Law: Glenda Dimmler (Mike) Deplazes of Crary, North Dakota Uncle: Johnny Peters of Lakota, North Dakota Nieces Nephews and Cousins also survive Preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Margaret Peters Dimmler, Brother Harold.
