Glenn Q. Keck, 82, life long resident of Devils Lake, ND died Thursday March 10, 2005, at the Good Samaritan Center, Devils Lake. Funeral services for Glenn will be held at 11:00 am. Monday, March 14, 2005 at St Olaf Lutheran Church in Devils Lake. Rev. Harold Ovre will officiate and burial will be at Bergen Cemetery, rural Garske ND. Military Honors will be accorded by the Neathery-Simensen Post #756, Devils Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars. Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation on Monday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Casket bearers will be Troy Johanson, Steven Johanson, Brian Johanson, Eric Johanson, Todd Meier, Troy Meier and Dean Keck. Jeff and Patty Cote will provide the music. A Eulogy will be done by April O’Brien Glenn Quenton Keck was born September 18th, 1922 at Niagara ND, the son of Charles Edward and Pearl Mabel (Smith) Keck. In 1928, Glenn moved with his family to Crary, ND were he was reared and educated graduating from Crary High School in May of 1943. Shortly after graduation came World War II. Glenn was inducted into the army at Ft. Snelling, MN on March 30, 1945. He received Infantry training at Camp Marie, Texas and then was transferred to Ft. Frances E. Warren, Wyoming. Glenn served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre during the war and spent the last six months of service on the Island of Aaho, Hawaii. He was honorably discharged on Aug. 7, 1946 with the rank of Corporal. After being discharged he returned to Crary and purchased land adjoining his parents land and started farming on his own. Glenn was united in marriage to Dolores Mikkelson on October 16, 1948 at St Olaf Lutheran Church at Devils Lake where he was a member for many years. They established their home in Crary and Glenn worked on his farm for a few years then moved to Devils Lake in 1953. Glenn worked for Concrete Sectional Culvert Company south of Devils Lake and then drove truck for Transport Inc. In 1961, Glenn went to work as a car salesman for Ramsey Motors Inc. in Devils Lake, for the next 21 years. Glenn then retired in January 1980 to care for his beloved wife Dolores during her battle with cancer. Dolores passed away July 4, 1980. On February 19, 1990 Glenn married Lena Meier in Las Vegas, Nevada. They established their home in Devils Lake where they lived through the years. Glenn was a lifetime member of the Elks Club, Eagles Lodge, American Legion, and the VFW. He was also a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church where he served as an Usher for many years. Glenn was a caring, loving, gentle friend, father, husband, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, working in his yard, gardening, helping others and especially spending time at his lake home on Woodlake. Glenn is survived by his wife: Lena Keck, Devils Lake Children: Norma Johanson and her husband, Lyle, Webster, ND Dwight Keck and his wife, Penny, Devils Lake Grandchildren: Troy (Michelle) Johanson, Steven (Sharon) Johanson, Brian (Lori) Johanson, Eric Johanson, April (Kevin) O’Brien and Alicia Keck Great Grandchildren: Brandon Thomas, Jacob Johanson, Mikara Johanson, Jessica Johanson and Brianna Johanson Step Children: Linda (Larry) Reisnouer Pam (Bo) Cunningham, Kelli (Joe) Rinas all of Spokane, Washington Todd (Jackie) Meier, Grand Forks Troy Meier, Devils Lake Many Step Grandchildren and Step Great Great Grandchildren Brothers: Charles Keck, Port Orchard, WA. Lloyd Keck, Edmore Sister-In-Law: Alice Keck, Thief River Falls, Minnesota Many Nieces and Nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dolores; oldest brother, John; brother-in-law, Roy Mikkelson; two sisters-in-law.
