Maletta Berge, 80 of Devils Lake, ND formerly of Alsen, ND died on Monday evening, February 7, 2005 at the Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake.
Funeral Services for Maletta will be held on Friday, February 11, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, Hampden, ND Rev. Robert Buechler will officiate and burial will be in the Alsen Cemetery, rural Alsen.
Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Thursday, February 10, 2005 from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. A Prayer Service will be held at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. Rev. Bruce Dick will officiate and music will be provided by Trudy Dick. Visitation on Friday will be at the Faith Lutheran Church one hour prior to the funeral service.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Jason Klein, Brent Klein, Jeff Klein, Jed Klein, Corey Ames, Craig Klein and Terry Hertzell.
Music for the funeral service will be cared for by Jed Klein, Soloist, Donald and Evelyn Klein, Vocalists with Congregational Hymns and Barb Lunde, Organist
Maletta Klein was born on February 24, 1924 at Alsen, North Dakota the daughter of John Gottfried and Bertha (Meyers) Klein. She was raised in the Alsen area and attended the Rosehill Country School, rural Alsen. She worked in the Alsen and the Starkweather grocery stores for several years. She then began working at the First State Bank of Munich-Starkweather Branch where she was employed for 28 years. Maletta was united in marriage to Edwin Berge on July 12, 1969 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake. They established their home on the farm near Alsen where they lived and worked together through the years. They spent winter months in Devils Lake for several years and permanently moved to Devils Lake in 2000. Maletta was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and Ladies Aide of Hampden.
Maletta was a loving, caring, beautiful Christian lady. After her mother died, Maletta devoted her time as the caregiver to all of her younger brothers and sisters. Her love of children and family was always present and she cared for her two nieces and raised her two nephews for eight years while they attended school. She was a devoted, loving wife who loved to cook, bake and entertain family and friends. Maletta and Edwin enjoyed traveling and traveled to many states. For several years they spent the winter months in Apache Junction, Arizona. Maletta always kept busy by cleaning, shopping, and taking Polaroid pictures of family and friends. Maletta had also established a beautiful collection of Norman Rockwell.
The love and support Maletta gave to her family and friends will always be remembered and so very missed by all.
