On November 29, 1939, Don was united in marriage to Agatha Carlson at the Seven Dolars Catholic Church in Ft. Totten. After their marriage they established their home on a rural Churchs Ferry farm. In the early 1970’s, the rising flood waters forced them to move to Penn. Agatha died on April 4, 1992. After Agatha passed away, Don continued to live in Penn and farmed with his sons. He helped his sons farm right up to the freeze this fall. He knew his working days were nearly over and tried to keep a good perspective on life. Don enjoyed visiting at the local gas stations and elevators. He had many friends because of his great attitude and outlook on life. His friends always took extra time to visit with him. He was known for his wonderful sense of humor. Don farmed the land near Churchs Ferry, Maza, Egeland, Ft. Totten, and Penn. Throughout his days, he has seen many changes in farming.
