Christian “Christ” P. Schloss, 93 of Devils Lake formerly of Esmond, ND died on Friday evening, October 7, 2005 at the Good Samaritan Center, Devils Lake.
Funeral Services for Christ will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake with Rev. Dale Peterson officiating. Graveside Services will be held at the Rosehill Cemetery, Esmond, ND on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.
Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
Serving as Casket Bearers will be, Art Rice, LeRoy Rice, Arthur Lee Rice, Tony Wack, Mark Wack, Lester Peterson, Kenny Keller, Bob Reierson and Dean Black.
Christian Phillip Schloss was born October 20, 1911, in Odessa, Russia; the eldest son of Michael and Marianna (Volk) Schloss. He came to the US with his parents when he was one and a half years old. They landed in New York, NY, and came to North Dakota by train in 1913. They made their home in Harvey, ND, where Christ went to church and school. In 1926, he moved with the family to a farm south of Esmond, in the Rich Valley Township where he resided and attended school.
In November, 1935, Christ joined the Civilian Conservation Corps. He worked in several national parks in ND and Minnesota. He was discharged in May, 1937, and returned to work the family farm and drove gas truck until 1943.
Christ married June Alda Kelts on October 12, 1943 in Esmond. They made their home on the family farm until 1947 when they moved into Esmond. Christ worked on the railroad, for area farmers and on elevator crews in ND and Minn. He worked for the Esmond Implement for about 10 years. Christ retired in 1971 due to ill health.
On April 4, 1985, June passed away suddenly. He moved to Devils Lake in 1989 and into the Good Samaritan Center of Devils Lake in 1997 where he resided until his death. He enjoyed working on craft projects, reading, listening to music and visiting with everyone.
Christ was a member of the Esmond PTA, Golden Age Club, Sportsman Club and City Park Board.

Roger Schloss of Maddock, ND
Granddaughters: Christine Silker, Yvonne Schloss and Shannon Schloss
Grandsons: Matthew (Jessica) Schloss, James Douglas and Ryan Schloss
Brothers: Wendell Schloss and Peter Schloss
Sister: Kaye Hudson
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, June; brothers, George, John and Frank Schloss.
