Harold Roy was born on February 2, 1919, the son of Otto and Hannah (Paulson) Johnson, on the Johnson farm, Isabel Township, rural Esmond. The farm is where Harold would live, work and grow to adulthood. He farmed with his Dad for several years and for 6 months, Harold worked with the Civilian Conservation Corp in California.
Harold was united in marriage to Dorothy Treon on January 10, 1947 in Maddock, ND. They established their home in Oberon, ND where they operated the Oberon Café. Harold also worked for several of the farmers in the area. In the early 1950’s, they moved to Devils Lake where they lived, worked and raised their daughter. Harold worked for the Peavey Lumber Yard, the Robertson Lumber Company, Lake Region Bottling Company and Lake Region Asphalt. After he retired, he continued to make Devils Lake his home and for the past few years, Harold lived at Lake Country Manor and was a resident of the Good Samaritan Center at the time of his death. Dorothy died on February 27, 2002.
Harold was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and former member of the Eagles Aerie.
Harold was a devoted husband and father and worked hard to provide for his family. He was a true outdoorsman and took every opportunity to be outdoors; caring for his yard or shoveling snow or sweeping a side walk.
