Alvin “Cowboy” J. Owlboy Sr., 40 of St. Michael, ND died on Wednesday morning, July 2, 2008 at his parents’ home.
The Wake Service for Alvin will be held at St. Michael’s Recreation Center, St. Michael beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2008 with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 8:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial for Alvin will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church on Monday, July 7, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. Fr. Brian Moen and Fr. Paul Ruge will concelebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery.
The Procession to the home of Francis and Lillie Owlboy will leave the Wal-Mart Parking Lot on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Alvin will be Francis Owlboy, Jr., Lormen Owlboy, Sr., Lonnie Owlboy, Alvin Owlboy Jr., Bonnie Owlboy, Chapa Owlboy and Trent Anderson.
Honorary Bearers will be all of Alvin’s many dear friends and co-workers at Sioux Manufacturing Corp.
Alvin James was born on May 11, 1968 at Devils Lake, ND the son of Francis and Lillie (Belgarde) Owlboy Sr. He grew up and was educated in the St. Michael area, attending St. Micheal’s Tribal School, then St. Joseph Catholic School in Devils Lake and high school at Warwick, ND. He received his GED from Little Hoop Community College in Fort Totten. He worked for a time at Spirit Lake Casino and Resort and most recently was working at Sioux Manufacturing Corp in Fort Totten.
Alvin enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. He enjoyed “tinkering” with any project he could find. He loved his family will all his heart. He will be greatly missed and shall be forever loved.

He was preceded in death by his son, Dalton Whiteshield; grandfathers, Thomas Owlboy, Peter Belgarde Sr. and Mike Thompson Sr.; grandmothers, Nancy Owlboy and Mary Jane Thompson; sister, Monica Owlboy Thompson.
