Margaret L. Engan, 83, of Devils Lake died on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 at the Heartland Care Center.
Funeral services for Margaret will be held on Monday, February 7, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel, Devils Lake. Rev. Harold Ovre, Pastor, St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake will officiate and burial will be in the spring in the Penn Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel, Devils Lake on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m..Visitation on Monday will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Margaret’s Nephews and Grand Nephews.
Margaret Louise Engan was born on July 16, 1921 at Penn, ND the daughter of John and Louise (Gessner) Engan. Margaret attended the first two grades in the Penn Public School. The family moved to Devils Lake where she continued her education, graduating from Devils Lake Central High School in the class of 1939. Margaret was a member of the High School Glee Club and also a Rainbow Girl in the Order of the Eastern Star. She was chosen Worthy Advisor in her senior year. In younger years, Margaret loved to sing and dance. While living in Devils Lake, Margaret was employed in the office of the Fairmont Creamery for several years. She also did office work for Goldberg Furniture until its closing. She also worked in a law office and her last employment before retiring was in the Devils Lake Courthouse.
Margaret is survived by her
Sister: Norma Younggren, Fargo
Brother: Jack Engan and his wife, Janet, Casa Grande, Arizona
Several Nieces and Nephews also survive.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Silvia Engan, Gertrude Aylesworth and Laura Stevens; brothers, Olaf, John and James Engan.
