Evelyn K. Nesset, 88 of Victoria, Minnesota formerly of Devils Lake, ND died on Friday, January 28, 2005 at the Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 2, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake. Fr. Joseph Christensen will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel, Devils Lake on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Wednesday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be John Haugland and Nick Broden and all of Evelyn’s Dear Friends. Active Pallbearers will be: David Eisenzimmer, Jeremy Eisenzimmer, Jason Eisenzimmer, Peter Pederson, Dan Johnson and Matthew Varpness. Evelyn K. Fuglie was born on November 2, 1916 at Dumont, Minnesota, the daughter of Ole Dekko and Sadie (Wurm) Fuglie. In 1929, the family moved to Parshall, North Dakota where Evelyn graduated from Parshall High School in the class of 1934. She attended Minot State Teacher’s College for a short time. She later obtained her teaching certificate and taught in a one-room country school near Devils Lake. She served as a secretary for the United States Army Corp of Engineers and also worked as an Office Manager for several physicians in Seattle, Washington and also in Devils Lake for Dr. Toomey. Evelyn was united in marriage to Ralph H. Nesset in June of 1951 at Devils Lake. They established their home in Devils Lake where they lived, worked and raised their family. Evelyn worked as a cashier at the Lake Theater and also worked at the School for the Deaf as a Teacher’s Aide. She later owned and managed the Ramsey Drug Photo Department with her husband, Ralph. Mr. Nesset died on June 15, 1984. Evelyn continued to make her home in Devils Lake. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Evelyn loved doing crafts of all kinds. Whenever something new came out from candle making to painting to sewing to decoupage and many, many more, Evelyn would give it a try. She filled her spare time with many activities including fishing, Scrabble, reading and working cross-word puzzles. She enjoyed listening to her scanner and was very faithful in watching the News which always kept her very well informed of local and world events. As busy as Evelyn was, any time she was able to spend with her family and friends she counted as her most precious. Those times were truly the highlight of her life. Evelyn was a most loving mother, grandmother, neighbor and friend and will be greatly missed by all. Evelyn is survived by her children: Ralph Burdette Nesset and his wife, Mary of Wilmar, Minnesota Charles Dekko Nesset and his wife, Nancy of Nashua, New Hampshire Marguerite Cecelia Nesset, Victoria, Minnesota Kathleen Ann Nesset, Minot, ND Grandchildren: Ann Varpness, Elizabeth Nesset and Katy Nesset Great Grandchildren: Sawyer and Dawson Varpness She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Marguerite Bernard; brothers, Oliver Fuglie and Carlyle James Fuglie.
