Frances T. Steffen, 91 of Devils Lake died on Sunday, January 30, 2005 at the Good Samaritan Center, Devils Lake. Mass of Christian Burial for Frances will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake. Fr. C.F. Wilhelm will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel, Devils Lake on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Thursday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Frances’ Grandchildren Active Pallbearers will be Mark Eback, Troy Eback, Ronald Samek, Kenny Samek, Matthew Samek and Ray Haman. Reading the Scriptures will be Michelle Rietschel and Jacquelyn Adams Gift Bearers: Debbie Cooper and Linda Hoen Eucharistic Minister will be LuAnne Krein Altar Servers: Brett Becker, Kaylin Krein, Brady LaMotte and Mariah LaMotte Music will be cared for by Peter A. Hager, Soloist and JoDee Lagein, Organist Frances T. Kuntz was born on April 25, 1913 at Orrin, ND the daughter of Engelbert and Elizabeth (Duchscherer) Kuntz. She attended school at McHenry School at Orrin. Frances was united in marriage to Andrew Steffen in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Orrin, ND on June 8, 1936. They farmed in the Devils Lake area until 1951 when they moved into Devils Lake. Frances went to work for Montieths Meat Service in 1951 until 1976 when she retired. Andrew died on April 26, 1983. Frances then moved to the Odd Fellows Village Apartments and in 2001 became a resident of the Good Samaritan Care Center, Devils Lake. Frances was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and also a member of St. Anne’s and St. Valentine’s Circle. Frances loved to crochet and play cards. She is survived by her Sons and Daughters-In-Law: Louie and Lee Steffen, Devils Lake Bert and Grace Steffen, also Devils Lake Daughters and Sons-In-Law: Theresia and Bernhard Eback, Brinsmade, ND Barbara and Bernard Samek, Wimbledon, ND Anna and Harvey Hettwer, Devils Lake Eighteen Grandchildren Thirty-One Great Grandchildren Three Great Great Grandchildren Brother: Frank Kuntz and his wife, Barbara, Rugby, ND Sister: Rosie Brossart also of Rugby Many Nieces and Nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Andrew of 46 years; daughter, Clara Jane; granddaughters, Patty Steffen and Clara Jane Steffen; great grandsons, Zachary Steffen, Jarrod Cooper, Jeremy Cooper and Erick Steir; brothers, Mike, George, Sebastian, John and Julius Kuntz; sisters, Dorothy Boehm, Mary Steffen and Theresa Bachmeier.
